If you're wondering what a bottle episode is then you're not alone. I asked this very question in January when I started working in television.
A bottle episode is set in one location. The first example that comes to mind is Breaking Bad's third season "Fly" which took place entirely in the lab.
Our family had a bottle episode of our own this Saturday. Believe me, that's not what we had in mind, but in order to salvage our sanity and reputation as a family, we had no choice. It was one of those days when the boys were simply off their rockers. Why? Exhaustion? Carbs? Waning gibbous moon? Who knew? And who cared? Certainly not me. By 4 o'clock in the afternoon, I was done playing referee for my two boys. I hadn't brushed my teeth or hair, and I was still in pajamas with a dirty band-aid stuck to them.
This grimy used Paw Patrol Band-Aid that was stuck to the front of my tank top for who knows how long (and who it came from) was the best thing that could have happened to me at that moment. As soon as I noticed it, I completely gave in to the all madness and started laughing uncontrollably. Then we all started laughing together.
It was bliss.
For five minutes.
Give or take a few - I lost track of time. The point is, those howmanyever minutes of pure joy and contagious laughter were THE BEST. Lesson learned. Give in more and let go of what i think a weekend should look like. Or what I should look like for that matter.
Like the Chinese proverb "Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are."
Yup. That's my mantra for the day.
